What to expect in Mikayla’s Class

Mikayla offers dynamic and appropriately challenging yoga instruction: her style is both soothing and energizing, intended to enhance participants’ ability to use their yoga practice and breath as tools to control or at least improve their realities.

Mikayla creates nourishing fitness environments rooted in culture, diversity, and movement where all folks (especially those historically excluded) can feel joy and empowerment. One of Mikayla’s goals is for folks to leave her classes feeling more confident, self-aware, invigorated, and self-loving.

Workshop #1 – Empower Your Inversion

Get closer to your arm balance and inversion goals with a step by step workshop to condition, stabilize, and empower your mind and body to push its boundaries. We’ll revisit some of the peak postures you may have seen in Mikayla’s classes this year—from peacock, to eka pada koundinyasana II, to fallen angel—tapping into the technique needed to approach these and other inversions safely and with confidence. This workshop will offer a combination of strength-building strategic warmups, mobility training, and inversions and arm balance pose breakdowns intended to empower you get upside down.

We’ll emphasize proper alignment through progressive skill drills designed to give you a better understanding of the world through an inverted point of view. Perhaps most importantly, we’ll start with a meditation that calls students to practice surrender and release any limiting beliefs. This workshop welcomes yogis of all levels. Bring a playful spirit and a childlike sense of curiosity!

Workshop #2 – Divinely Aligned: A Posture Clinic

“Divinely Aligned” is a transformative yoga workshop meticulously designed to guide participants toward perfecting popular postures while harmonizing mind, body, and spirit. This workshop delves deep into the nuances of alignment, offering invaluable insights and techniques to help practitioners achieve optimal balance and stability in each pose.

Participants will explore the intricacies of alignment in well-loved yoga postures—emphasizing precise body placement, breath awareness, and mindful movement, “Divinely Aligned” aims to refine alignment, enhance strength, and cultivate a profound sense of inner connection.

This workshop offers a supportive environment where participants can deepen their understanding of alignment principles, unlock new levels of flexibility and strength, and experience the transformative power of yoga practice in a holistic way. Join us on this journey of self-discovery and alignment, and step into a state of divinely aligned well-being.

Itinerary

Day 01 - Arrival in Paradise

After your arrival at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica. You’ll be greeted by our transportation service for a scenic drive to Negril with the group.

Check into Skylark Hotel, located right on the famous 7 Mile Beach. Meet your hosts Mikayla and Daniela, and settle into your accommodations. After a few hours of relaxation and getting to know your new friends, we’ll head to our opening ceremony.

A welcome dinner at the iconic Rockhouse Hotel follows, featuring fresh local ingredients and stunning ocean views. Get to know your fellow retreat participants and unwind after your travels.

Day 02 - Island Breeze

Wake up to the sound of the ocean and join Mikayla for a rejuvenating sunrise yoga session overlooking the beach, designed to energize your body and calm your mind. Then, indulge in a nutritious breakfast at Miss Lily’s (the on-site restaurant), featuring an array of tropical fruits, freshly baked goods, and Jamaican specialties.

Spend the rest of your day at your leisure. You have the option to snorkel in the crystal-clear waters, or simply relax on the pristine beach.

Late afternoon we’ll gather for our first workshop “Divinely Aligned: A Posture Clinic with Mikayla”, followed by dinner savoring Caribbean-inspired dishes as the sun sets.

Day 03 - Golden Hour Cliffs + Sailing

Start your day with another invigorating yoga session led by Mikayla, focusing on deepening your practice and building strength and flexibility.

Later we’ll enjoy a leisurely breakfast and some free time.

After lunch, we’ll board our catamaran for a trip out at sea for snorkeling and relaxing on deck. Later in the afternoon we’ll head to Rick’s Cafe, renowned for its breathtaking cliffside views and legendary sunsets. Relax, swim, and watch the daring cliff divers (or cliff dive yourself), while enjoying refreshing drinks.

Later in the evening we’ll return to Skylark Hotel for dinner and unwind under the starlit sky, reflecting on the day’s experiences and connections made with fellow participants.

Day 04 - Choose Your Bills

Enjoy a lazy morning and a delicious breakfast. Later, join Mikayla for Yoga followed by lunch.

The afternoon is yours to explore: optional waterfall exploration, beach relaxing, or take a shuttle to Rockhouse hotel to enjoy the cliffside pool and chill vibes.

As the sun sets, come together for a delicious dinner, capping off the day with a peaceful night’s rest.

Day 05 - Sandy Serenity

On our last full day together in Jamaica together and Mikayla’s morning mat magic kicks us off.

Early afternoon we’ll meet for our final workshop Empower Your Inversion followed by lunchtime lounging at Skylark, flavors of the sea mingling with laughter and lazy afternoons.

At sunset, we’ll meet for our final dinner on the beach, a feast for the senses and a celebration of shared experiences. We’ll end the night with a closing ceremony sharing gratitude about our experience.

Day 06 - Farewell Flow

Early morning, we’ll meet for Mikayla’s farewell flow, a final embrace of the mat and the memories woven within. A Breakfast bonanza and bittersweet goodbyes will follow, hearts heavy with gratitude and spirits light with the promise of new beginnings.

Skylark means to laze about, idle, goof off, lollygag, dilly-dally, tarry, behave in an irresponsible manner, to ne’er-do-well, mischief make, engage in shenanigans, tomfooleries and loaf, which are perfect ways to describe your Negril beach vacation. Nestled along Negril’s legendary Seven Mile Beach, Skylark Hotel invites you to embrace the art of lazing about in paradise. Prepare for a laid-back retreat with stunning sunsets and endless good vibes.

Booking Terms and Conditions

A $500 USD non-refundable initial deposit will secure your spot on the retreat or you may choose to pay in full.

The remaining balance will be split into instalment payments with the total amount due 60 days prior to the retreat start date.

Alternate payment plans are available, please email us at hello@startyouradzenture.com to set up a plan that is flexible for you.

Please note, our cancellation policy is as follows:

  • Initial deposits are strictly non-refundable.
  • If cancelled between 120 to 60 days of the Retreat start date, 25% of the Retreat price paid is forfeited. Any remaining balance paid may be used as credit for future bookings up to one year of the cancellation date.
  • If cancelled 60 days or less prior to the Retreat start date, 100% of the Retreat price paid is forfeited.
  • If you choose to join the Retreat after the start date or leave the Retreat prior to the end date, there are no refunds.

Please do not book your flight until you have received a confirmation to do so. You will be provided with instructions on when to arrive/depart.

An information package will be sent 30 days prior to departure and will include the retreat schedule, recommended packing list, and trip details.

It is your responsibility to confirm your passport has 6 months validity prior to departure from your origin.
