Wander Japan: Soulful Streets to Sacred Spaces

A cultural & culinary Traveling Retreat with Azma & Daniela, ADzenTURE co-founders.

Step into the soul of Japan with Wander Japan — a thoughtfully curated travel experience led by Adzenture co-founders Azma & Daniela, and guided by a trusted local Japanese host who brings deep cultural insight to every step of the journey.

This isn’t a passive vacation. It’s a cultural immersion designed for the curious traveler who seeks beauty in everyday rituals, art in simplicity, and connection in the unexpected.

Over 7 deeply enriching days, we’ll wander through Japan’s most iconic and sacred neighborhoods — from the neon buzz of Tokyo to the serene temple paths of Kyoto. Along the way, we’ll root ourselves in presence with meditation and movement activations, including a rare opportunity to sit in zazen meditation with a Buddhist monk, and partake in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony that honors quiet, ritual, and reverence.

Expect a daily rhythm that blends mindful movement with discovery: 15,000–25,000 steps on foot through bamboo groves, geisha-lined alleys, bustling markets, and peaceful gardens. Japan is a place best experienced slowly — one step, one breath, one bite at a time.

We’ll also indulge in the country’s vibrant food scene — from high-end dining (kaiseki, omakase, izakaya) to hidden alleyway gems and markets and stay in luxe accommodations that offer peace and comfort after full, wonder-filled days.

This retreat is intentionally intimate — just 8 women — so we can move fluidly, share deeply, and experience the kind of moments most travelers miss.

And for those who crave even more stillness and soul, there’s an optional luxury Hakone onsen add-on, complete with private hot spring baths, mountain air, and views of Mt. Fuji.

If you’re craving a soulful, sensory-rich way to explore Japan, come join us — Azma & Daniela — longtime lovers of this incredible country. This is your invitation to wander, connect, and remember how alive you can feel when the world opens up around you.

Let’s wander.

An initial deposit of $750 USD will secure your spot on the retreat. Please refer to all booking terms and conditions here.

DAY 01
Arrival in Tokyo – Streets of Style & Spirit

Touch down in Tokyo and step into the vibrant rhythm of Shibuya. After check-in, we’ll head to Shibuya Sky to take in panoramic sunset views over the city, soaking in the energy from above as day turns to night. Then, we’ll gather for a warm welcome dinner at a buzzing Izakaya, sharing our first tastes of Japanese cuisine. As the city lights glow around us, we’ll take a gentle evening stroll through the neon-drenched streets, blending ancient energy with modern edge. This is your soft landing into a soulful and sensory-rich adventure.

DAY 02
Tokyo Icons – Culture, Color & Culinary Delights

We begin the day with a visit to the historic Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa, Tokyo’s oldest and most sacred site. Wander Nakamise Street for snacks and traditional trinkets before heading to the famed Tsukiji Outer Market for a fresh and flavorful lunch. In the afternoon, Harajuku awaits — a kaleidoscope of youth culture, fashion, and creative expression.

DAY 03
Journey to Kyoto – Temples & Tranquility

Board the Shinkansen bullet train and glide towards the cultural heart of Japan — Kyoto. Upon arrival, we’ll settle into our serene boutique stay near Gion. This afternoon, dive into the sacred as we visit Sanjusangen-do, home to 1,001 golden statues. In the evening, we’ll experience a traditional Maiko performance and enjoy a refined kaiseki dinner — art on every plate.

DAY 04
Spiritual Kyoto – Gates, Gardens & Geisha

Rise early for a breathtaking morning hike through Fushimi Inari Shrine’s thousand vermillion torii gates. Later, we’ll slip into kimono and take part in a tea ceremony guided by a local master. After lunch at Nishiki Market — Kyoto’s “Kitchen” — spend the afternoon exploring Gion’s old streets, lined with wooden teahouses. Tonight, dinner is at a cozy local eatery, rich in flavor and charm.

DAY 05
Arashiyama – Forest Bathing & Onsen Bliss

Today we head west to Arashiyama, where we’ll wander through the otherworldly Bamboo Grove and visit the serene Tenryu-ji Temple. After a riverside lunch, we unwind with a traditional onsen experience — a moment of deep rest and rejuvenation for body and soul. Return to Kyoto for a light dinner and quiet reflection.

DAY 06
Zen & Connection – Your Kyoto, Your Way

Our final full day in Kyoto invites reflection and deeper presence. We begin with a private Zen meditation session at a local temple, followed by free time to wander, shop, or sip matcha with a view. Whether you’re drawn to quiet gardens or last-minute treasures, this day is yours to shape. In the evening, we reunite for a beautiful farewell dinner celebrating all we’ve seen, felt, and shared.

DAY 07
Departures or Optional Hakone Escape

This morning, guests will take the train to Kansai (Osaka) Airport for flights home. Optional Add-On: For those extending their journey, we’ll head to the mountain town of Hakone. Enjoy an indulgent night at a luxury ryokan, complete with a private onsen bath, multi-course dinner, and stunning views of Mt. Fuji (weather permitting). Tokyo & Kyoto, Japan

Japan is a land of contrasts — where ancient temples meet neon skylines, and centuries-old rituals live alongside cutting-edge innovation. In Tokyo, the pulse of modern life beats through Shibuya’s crossings and Harajuku’s fashion streets, while quiet shrines and hidden sushi counters offer moments of stillness. In Kyoto, tradition reigns: from tea ceremonies and tranquil gardens to vermillion torii gates and historic geisha districts. Together, these iconic cities reveal Japan’s deep beauty, harmony, and cultural richness.
